The South Sinai Regional Development Program: Rapid growth in South Sinai poses great opportunities as well as threats to the same resources on which growth is based. For the protection of such cultural and natural resources, and at the same time enhancing the living conditions of local communities, particularly Bedouins, the EU-funded the South Sinai Regional Development Programme (SSRDP) to manage a grant of €64 million. It is divided into two components: Component 1: pre-determined larger projects related to infrastructure, studies, and equipment for a total of €34 million.  Component 2: a demand-driven Grant Scheme totaling some €20.5 million. The grant scheme is divided into 2 Calls for proposals i.e. A Call 1 for Proposals for a total amount of € 19 million and a  Call 2 concerning Direct Small Grants for Bedouin settlements with total amount of € 1 million.
